very scenic hike characterized by frequent ups and downs. It takes place on the ridge that divides the valley from that of the Ebola Lamone, on the right bank of the latter and for most of the excursion you walk on the trail of the underground pipeline several years ago. The icing on the cake for this walk is a visit to the Oak of gudgeon, one of the patriarchs trees Emilia-Romagna. Not being a round trip, you should use more car or as in this case, public transport and in the valley of the Lamone until Barberry, the train is very useful. Massimo and I have chosen to walk towards the sewer, as there is some provision to train more than in San Cassiano, but it is also feasible in the other direction. leave the station of San Cassiano go right along the road to the village, which is to cross it.

Shortly after the church, in a curve to the left of the road, turn right into via Scampelluccio and descend to cross the Lamone River.

One of the few flowers left in this season.

La Casaccia

After the river the road starts to climb and the view opens onto the valley and surrounding mountains, until you get home Le Piane, announced by a beautiful oak.

We leave the paved road and follow the trail of the houses located on the first building you go to a small crossroads, where today (12 Nov). There is a total lack of information.

At the crossroads we turn left, rising slightly and made a hundred meters you find signs of white-red CAI. The panorama opens.

Dopo aver superato il Monte Rigonzano, si scende alla strada sterrata che sale da Sant’Eufemia. La si segue un po’ a destra,ma fatti pochi metri i segni  portano sul crinale a sinistra.

Ramo di Rosa canina .

Il sentiero riprende seguendo il tracciato del metanodotto e  con vari saliscendi si supera Monte Tura, Monte del Tesoro e Monte Ronco. Ai piedi del Monte del Tesoro c’è un quadrivio. Se si vuole evitare la cima del monte, invasa dalle ginestre e quindi poco agevole, si prende la carrareccia di destra e si ritrovano i segni in seguito.

Si attraversa anche un piccolo castagneto.

Monte Visano visto da Monte Ronco.

Sempre seguendo il tracciato del metanodotto si giunge a Monte Visano. Vista sul Monte di Rontana.

Dalla cima di Monte Visano si scende alla strada che giunge da Fognano, qui, seminascosta da grandi cipressi, si trova un’edicola circolare. Il sentiero scende dietro di essa.

Passando di fianco ad una coltivazione di olivi, il sentiero arriva alla…

grande quercia di Ghiozzano.

Enorme e bellissima Roverella ( Quercus pubescens ), di certo la più grande della Valle del Lamone,. Alcuni testi la citano al secondo posto, per dimensioni, a livello regionale. Le misure: circonferenza 5,40 m, altezza 27 m, ma soprattutto diametro della chioma 34 m, per cui la figura risulta "più larga che alta" e il portamento imponente, fanno di questa quercia un autentico colosso. Come età dovrebbe avvicinarsi ai 200 anni.

Le bellissime ramificazioni. Nicchia con Madonna nella casa di fianco alla quercia. Base del tronco. La casa del 1911, denominata La Valle, con la roverella. Lasciato la magnifica pianta, si scende lungo lo stradello della casa… e si giunge alla Chiesa di Ghiozzano, del 1800 e dedicata a San Lorenzo. Con la chiesa alle spalle si va a destra e arrivati di fronte ad una maestà fra due alberi, si volta a sinistra, giungendo così in breve a Fognano.
