From Palazzuolo Faggiola

This trip is not unlike the others in a 'ring, but the path of the development and also that of the return, except for a couple of small varianti.Volendo you can also go Return to Visano. I preferred to start with trail No. 70 because I never wanted to see the path and it was. It 's a nice walk and not too long, touching and wonderful places with a little' of history behind it. The main road to get to Palazzuolo is the SS 306, which starts on the Via Emilia Castel Bolognese.
1-Ch. di Palazzuolo path No. 70, City of Palazzuolo sul Senio starts behind the apse of the Church of Santo Stefano.
THE PARISH CHURCH OF ST STEPHEN has perhaps pagan origin and dates from the fourth century. The pagan origin is illustrated by a stone (round lost during the reconstruction after the war) on which were carved a pair of scissors and a fish, a symbol of the Arian heresy. The church was remodeled several times in 1500 and, after reconstruction, its original structure has been altered. Inside is a nave with side chapels, oil paintings of the sixteenth, seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The floral decorations of the apse and side chapels are the work della Scuola Chini di Borgo San Lorenzo.
3-panorama Dal prato near the dirt road you can admire a beautiful view on Palazzuolo and on ... ..

4-Castellaccio Castellaccio .. 5-Ca' Poggio The narrow road leads to Ca 'Poggio
6-la stalla the barn.
10-deviazione After the house passed a gate (the closing). After a few yards take the right path, marked, and soon arrive at a detour, always marked by a large wooden arrow. Come to an 'other gate was written to "close", the excess and go left on street, thus leaving the thin, faded blue markings of the City of Palazzuolo. After a few yards take on the right a path slightly uphill with deep wheel tracks of the bikes and I'll be right along the path marked CAI 609. 13-sega del povento I go right and soon reaches the "Sega of Poventa.
SAW THE Poventa is just a big boulder, with a few well-written not decipherable, famous for close on 19 October 1506, Pope Julius II, celebrated Mass, blessing the people of Palazzuolo .
17-cicala A cicada, which I passed stopped chirping hoping to go unnoticed. The trail makes a left curve in the road and hillside, reaching so at .... 19-Campiali Ca 'Campiali.
21-Prati piani Beyond the house exceeds a peak of sandstone and quick arrival at Prati Piani. Splendid lawn dominated by north rock wall called "The Scale", on which the trail passes. 24-prati p. A building of the farmhouse Prati Piani.
25-il castagnone Part of lawn bordered by a chestnut castagneto.Il first right, is called "the Castagnone" because it is a superb example hundred years old. 27-Prati Piani A 'building of another house. Meadows left the plans go up quickly, "The Scale" and I am forwarding a beech grove.
34-Bibbiana Zooming on the fraction of Bibbiana.
36-fonte Faggiola always walking in the woods on the right after leaving the top of Faggiola, the lake (dry) and then the CAI 701, I come to the fountain of Faggiola. The place to stop and not far from the pitch Paretaio, which is the crossing point between the Apennine ridge and Palazzuolo Coniale in Valley Santerno .
38-bivio 701-609 retrace my steps, I faced the top of Faggiola and fork, instead of going right on the path 609, go left on 701, and divides Santerno Senio. I got the idea of \u200b\u200bgoing to see what remains of the house called the Customs, having many years ago. 41-Dogana 42-Dogana The ruins of the Customs.
CUSTOMS , was the barracks of the officers who controlled the traffic between the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and the Papal States until the Unification of Italy. It 's the meeting point of two regions, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, and three provinces, Florence, Bologna and Ravenna.
43-pp Now instead of going back to the fork, saw a sign on the paper and shows that circumvents the Faggiola on the 609, I decided to follow her and find her behind the house of Customs. In some way back along the path marked, but I do not recommend this variante perché la traccia sul terreno c’è e non c’è e in certi punti è molto imboscata.
55-Ch.di Visano Visano The facade of the church. 57-Visano Visano The settlement was probably part of the castle.
Castrum Vixani , appointed or even Vesan Vigiani, originally belonged to Ubaldini Maghinardo Pagani and then from 1282 until his death in Trees 1302.Pervenuto her niece, the wife of John Ubaldini, then to his son, Maghinardo Novello, was purchased by Florence in 1349, but returned in 1361 in possession of Ubaldini. Was demolished by the Florentines in 1373.
(information taken from Fortresses and Castles of Romagna)
59 From Visano fell on the road of Passo Paretaio go right and passing under the tower restored to Palazzuolo arrival. 61-Maestà Palazzuolo 1852 Majesty Palazzuolo.
