Cosey - TRAVEL
Viaggio in Italia è un opera eccezionale, è un racconto ambientato dopo la guerra del vietnam, che ripercorre le vicende of two friends and those who gravitate around.
Essentially it is a story with the help of flashbacks, we proposed the development of these characters and explains the perspective of their lives.
The story is divided between America and Italy Puglia Colorado, more specifically that of Alberobello and the surrounding area. Reproduction environmental data from Cosey is absolutely true, and surely this implied a good job of documentation followed by a great ability to rework the landscape. The backgrounds and the atmosphere it merges with the cartoons, creating some of the finest narrative sequences ever. The trip
addressed in Italy can be seen as a process of purification by the two protagonisti che, affrontando il loro passato nel presente, aprono delle porte sul proprio futuro.

PAUL POPE IN ITALY - HEAVY LIQUID
La storia è ambientata fra New York e Parigi intorno all'anno 2075. S., il protagonista, è in fuga dalla banda dei Pagliacci che lo cercano per recover the share of the heavy liquid that he has stolen. Heavy Liquid
This is a kind of rare metal that once warmed up and loose you can take your ear so changing their perceptions and their mental capacity.
The narrative has a fast pace with pressing situations that are intertwined with a love story that feels more like a amarcord, something that the protagonist wants to achieve but to no avail.
The sign of Pope, frantic and at times fluid, which seems to strip away almost touched, and yet nothing is put there by chance and his characters seem to really move, and ready to spring into action. The text flows nice long talks and some captions si possono cogliere momenti davvero poetici.

Batman: Arkham Asylum Language Changer
Joann Sfar - Pascin
Sfar is a famous French writer and illustrator, known in Italy for uncompromising saga of the Rabbi's Cat.
We say that an author is smart and committed and that its production is very broad and is addressed to all ages. It's usually a story that builds a meticulously precise from the point of view of narrative design. Instead of meticulously Pascin has nothing, only the plot and the basic idea is clear.
Sfar tells a false biography of Julius Pinkas Mordekai (aka Pascin), Bulgarian painter who lived in France in the early twentieth century. History This artist is a vortex of having no moral instinct dictated by alcohol and sex. A vortex is also the way in which the author presents the story: the course does not have a defined theme and the narration is composed of short stories often disconnected from each other if not for the secondary characters that are recurring. The drawings are not those that Sfar has accustomed us: forget the colors and the refinements of the Rabbi's Cat, here is improvised in black and white and the brush is more free than ever to drag on the page sometimes very mild and in other so heavy, dirty and emerging figures are never definitive, deliberately inaccurate. Surely
Sfar wants to seize the moment of improvisation and Sometimes we can reconcile most of all the design with the rhythm of the dialogue often over the top and excessive. There are also steps when you create a certain heaviness in the atmosphere of the reading, but that's only the beginning of the work and perhaps is caused by the fact that the author himself had to take unfamiliar with this type of story. Worthy of consideration is the fact that the volume is composed of stories made in different periods and years, and this can also be seen from the slight changes of the signs from the first page.
Pascin is a story made of raw rappresetazioni fetishes and immoral, but fundamentally this is the least interesting aspect of the approach of an inspired and in some Sfar original verse, but can still improve in this area of dark-faced.

RUTU MODAN - Unknow / UNKNOWN
Unknow / Unknown is a good comic Israeli Rutu Modan who speaks of the death of a father during an attack and its research by the son and lover.
Someone described the style of photography Modan, but I call it more essential than anything else. Besides all his use of narrative approaches is essential. Starting from design, a clear line staff and direct through the backgrounds always in the background, to achieve a color rarely so functional.
In fact the first thing I notice is his use of color, sharp and clean, for once, put them not forcibly or side dish, but to create a break and to emphasize what the events revolve. You can easy to see the landscapes that surround the characters are always much more subtle of the characters themselves and the objects involved in the action are increasingly highlighted over others. I do not know if it can be considered a kind of innovation, I do not know if anyone has ever done before, but as I see this device helps both the interpretation of the reader, whether the conduct of the narrative.
The issues tackled by the author are very strong: the disappearance of a father, father son relationship conflict, attacks, love, relationship conflict and the conflict between the upper and lower classes play an important role in keeping glued to the book .
The story then sees different genres merge together and uncertain times reads like a novel on the road, then one of love, then a war, and then a yellow.
Certainly the work highlights the lifestyle and the historical moment of Israel, a nation far away from our traditions and customs. The strength is that the author maintains a radical departure from all the situations that occur using them only as background for the conduct of the characters, just as using color.
The open-ended, and could also be the beginning of a new story.

HORNSCHEMEIER PAUL - MAMA COMING HOME
I had already talked about this author reviewing The three paradoxes.
Mom, coming home is a work that precedes the above-mentioned and the one that has made him known worldwide making him win various prizes.
The book tells the story of Thomas, a child of seven years after the loss of his mother finds himself having to maintain focus on a father who, shocked by, loses her mind.
The dream world in which the two take refuge (the children dressed up and going crazy father) presents the idea of surrender to life on the other hand is più comodo ignorare i problemi che affrontarli.

The Italian volume collects the last five numbers, those of full maturity of expression.
The short stories that make up the book tell of young middle-class and their problems, mostly social and relational.
Honestly, I was most struck by the casual way in which the multi-faceted and Abel confronts their own stories. His greatest ability is to be able to do a story about having to be exhausted, despite the verbosity of his texts, and to draw up a scheme of cartoons very precise and always functional, infusing the narrative an increasingly dynamic and never static.
These stories can be considered the real lessons on comics: in each story è applicato un metodo diverso e uno stile particolare.

Where Can I Top Up My Gas Meter
Miguelanxo PRADO - SIGN OF PLASTER
Il segno di gesso è l'immagine creata da un'isoletta sperduta nell'oceano, con il suo faro broken and his house occupied by mother and son.
shipwrecked on this island, apparently, Raul and that is where he meets Ana, a young writer. The innkeeper and his strange son, the seagull nicknamed "Lucas" and transmit the same island mystery and abandonment. The story revolves around incommunicableness, the difficulty of the relationship between these people and their built expressly preclude the process work.
colors, strong and compact, mark the characters' actions and, by affecting the atmosphere of the reading.
The substance of it is a tale of plaster sealed, easy flowing but at a less superficial reading can give food for thought. The same stresses
Prado notes in this regard, invites the reader to read the book several times and carried away by their emotions. The work it does not have a closed ending and perhaps it has more than one, but it is for the reader to decide the key to the final.
poetic and surreal, this volume is the work, rightly, most award-winning Prado: Best Book of the Association of Booksellers of France, winner at Angoulême Alph Art, Best work at the Comic Exhibition in Barcelona, Prix 'honor at the Festival of Amadora, Best book of the year at the Hyères Festival, Jury Prize for best book of the year in Austria.
The book is a nice extra history dedicated to the memory of Hugo Pratt.
The issue is of great size, with a card that gives a good color, and print quality that you can admire the beautiful tables Prado.

TRILLO & RISSO - VAMPIRE BOY
Finally, thanks to the 001 we see a another edition of this pair of authors working in Argentina. In fact, after
Video Noir, Borderline, and Chicanos Fulù (incomplete in Italy) we also Vampire Boy.
The duo is dynamic and varied with the titles listed above have all kinds, and I know that when I buy something written by Trillo go on the safe side, let alone if there Risso designs.
Admittedly Vampir Boy do not excel, that is not a masterpiece, but it's a long story very well balanced, with no slips, keeping a steady pace and you enjoy reading to the end.
Trillo does not want to overdo it and so simply tell the story of this nameless Egyptian child, immortalized by the sun god, he is forced to a long face to face with another immortal in centuries, the evil Ahmasi, priestess of the snake. The ability
Trillo, true master of narrative structure, runs along the centuries among the Egyptians, ancient Rome, crusades, inquisitions and witch hunts to get to this day. The volume of breathing pauses characterized the flashbacks and the stories making the small Egyptian, so Risso can show us all his amazing black and white, moving quickly from one 'another time to return to show us the city today.
to remember is the passage in which the child tells the destruction of six of the seven wonders of antiquity: for masterful narrative power and synthesis of speech.

- HO! Morally Questionable THE CARTOONS OF IVAN BRUNETTI
Ivan Brunetti is inconvenient and annoying as a narrow pant like a mosquito in my ear and it is also painful as a kick in the ass. In his own way
Ivan Brunetti is also a genius, very bad. Semi
unknown in Italy (where hardly see him), semi acclaimed in America. Loved and idolized by few, hated and feared by many, with his comic Brunetti is the good and the bad weather knocking on paper all the evil and wickedness of man. The beginning
only serves as a warning as a warning: this book is not politically correct.
Brunetti presents a collection of previously published cartoons accompanied by a handful of unreleased, all scratchy stuff that goes from racism to the extreme sex, from murder to pedophilia. As the subtitle
morality is called into question, but I would say that it is even wiped out. The question to ask is why does this Brunetti hard use and harsh reality? Yeah, apart from some exaggerated cartoon really, there are many things that happen in the book really, maybe in the apartment next to ours. So perhaps that of Brunetti is a reflection on society? Then perhaps Brunetti founded a new thought in political science or sociology? I do not know. Maybe it just takes pleasure in a shocker, and sometimes points to make us laugh with his bitter irony, because in the end it is only a gag.
Be careful if you want to buy such a book I have warned you must be prepared to accept it then you can also laugh, maybe.

Where Do The Female Tennis Players Put The Ball
JOE MATT - POOR BASTARD
directly from the underground Canadian / American comes this collection of short stories by Joe Matt, one of many "children" by Robert Crumb.
Joe uses his cartoons, strictly six per page, to tell us their lives by focusing on its problems of emotional and sexual nature. His love-hate relationship with Trish, his mania for the porn and masturbation, his search for the perfect woman, the ways to earn da vivere e arrotondare il misero guadagno che trae dai fumetti, gli inseparabili amici e colleghi Cester Brown e Seth sono solo alcuni dei punti focali del racconto.

But if you write a story so short and you do those, though good, the designs of one of the greatest interpreters of black and white as ever, perhaps the result will not be much.
Unfortunately, this volume, which contains a mini three, is not quite successful.
The setting and the historical period, Japan's Hiroshima bomb with his "little boy", create a good connection, but the same old woman loved her die on duty undermines not just the originality of the story.
Vaughan writes a simple story from the dialogue a little intrusive and leaves the field open emotion of the reader.
Risso is flawless as usual and its stroke is just softer. Too bad for the excellent coloring, which was entirely avoidable. In America they remember, and so the story came out in black and white.
short, without infamy and without praise. Pity, because I expected more.

TARDI - LEGRAND - AMMAZZASCARAFAGGI
I think it's one of the first volumes Coconino past and I think also a bit muted.
fact is that this couple of French authors gives us a nice noir full of intrigues and conspiracies. Eisenhower
Walter is the son of a German woman sold to an American officer, whose wife could not have children, with the promise of a better life in America. Obviously this does not happen and Walter finds himself thirty-odd years with a sedentary lifestyle, with the loneliness and carried out by the unrewarding job of killing cockroaches. During business hours
Walter happens by chance on a landing something wrong and feels that he should not hear. From here the story takes off from New York's neighborhoods, Hispanic Americans and underworld society.
Technically, the narrative is well structured and based on patterns of 50s pulp classic, full of sharp jokes and rhythmically tight.
master's designs are Late to the maximum, so that the representation of New York is a real postcard.
By the way, but the story itself is original and takes advantage of the usual cliches of film noir. So what to do? Well we must dig deeper and get to find the theme of the cycle that the authors have imposed work. In particular there is a repetition of the places "photographed" by late, especially when opening and closing of the book, as if this story could be repeated indefinitely, simply by changing the protagonist. We can see how the concept of man and cockroach is interchangeable and that the association underworld can be seen as a sort of business-men to kill cockroaches. Ultimately
paranoid like red, single color, which marks the character and affects the city. In Appendix
a kind of reflection of late and with a short story by Legrand that can reveal a lot about the intent of the work.
Later - Legrand
